Typical Winter Training Week
35min easy run followed by gym session.
5km paced session such as 5x1200m (2min rec) on road.
7-8 miles steady.
25min easy run plus drills then circuit training.
35min easy run
6-7mile tempo run.
5-6 miles easy then gym session
10km paced session such as 3x10min efforts (2min rec).
Long run 85-95min.
Weekly mileage: 75-85 miles.
This is typical of what Tom has done in the past, but since Achilles tendon injury he’s changed it been training very differently
Typical Summer Training Week
25min easy run + gym session
800m paced session such as: 2x600m + 200m (30sec recovery between 600m and 200m – 15min set recovery).
25min easy plus drills then circuit training.
25min easy run.
10-12x400m with 60sec recovery.
4-5 miles easy + gym session.
1500m paced session such as 2x2x800m (3min/10min recovery).
2-3miles easy plus speed drills.
Long run of 75-80min
Weekly mileage: 55-65 miles.
